Parenting
Journey
|
|
Being a nurturing parent who can make
responsible and informed choices in raising your children is key to
strong and healthy families.
The parenting Journey supports parents in learning how to
better nurture themselves and their children through a
strength-based curriculum that emphasizes positive relational
skills, appropriate child management, and development of a
supportive parenting community.
The Parenting Journey is a 13 session
program that meets weekly for 3 hours.
Participants work in small interactive groups and share a
“family” meal each week.
A graduation ceremony with a certificate of completion is a welcome
celebration for all who complete the program.
Anyone interested in participating in the
program, please call 718-410-6744, extension 40.

Anger
Reduction Services
|
|
Anger is a complex emotion that often
becomes the “go to” feeling when we are overwhelmed or threatened.
For many of us, the habit of getting angry or being angry
dominates our life, our relationship and results in problems at
home, in the workplace and on the streets.
The anger reduction program works with participants to
understand the roots of anger, the cost of uncontrolled anger, and
strategies for reducing angry responses to life situations.
The program is a 16 session program that
meets weekly on Tuesday morning or Tuesday evening.
On the first Tuesday of each month we accept persons 25 years
and older into the anger management program.
Please call 718-410-6744, extension 21 for information
regarding registering for the adult anger reduction program

Personal
Support and Development Services
|
|
Sometimes it is called therapy, sometimes
counseling, and still other times, it is called coaching.
Whatever you call it, sitting down and talking to someone
about what is going on in your life can be an important step in
creating the life you want for yourself and your family.
We have staff that can do just that…they listen and hear what
you are really saying, they help you figure out how you may
contributing to the problem, they look at the hurting places in yo
life, and they work with you to figure out what you are going to do
about it.
The
services are for individuals,
couples, and families. The
services can be for a very short period of time or you can work for
a period of months to achieve the goals you set for yourself.
To find out more, call us at 718-410-6744, extension 21.

Outreach to
Persons without Homes
|
|
When the very basic need of a person has not
been met, we offer both immediate support and encouragement to do
the work that will enable an individual to get into and maintain a
safe home. Our immediate
response is to provide food, clothes, toiletries, and positive,
supportive connection.
Our longer term support is to help with health, housing, and legal
needs when a person feels ready to address these issues.
Gentle, kind presence to those whose lives
are on the streets is usually the beginning of change and healing
for those who are helped by this program.
