I came to Highbridge in 1989 as an ESL teacher. After a week or so I said to myself "this looks like a good job." In the years that followed I became a GED teacher and a Citizenship teacher. After 18 years - almost one hundred GED's, hundreds of new citizens and thousands of new English speakers (plus a pension and a 3% raise in 2006.) I can tell everyone - THIS IS A GREAT JOB!

I have been an instructor in Adult Education at HCLC for 21 years ! Being with the staff and adult students at Highbridge has been a great joy - and helps me get over the fact of being overworked and underpaid.

In 1997 I started work at HCLC and I am still here. This is the longest I have ever worked in the same job in my 40 years of employment. Something keeps me here—students, coworkers and friends--a magnetic place to be

When I was born Sister Anne was giving birth to Highbridge. I have become a mature person over those years and I can see that this organization has likewise matured over the years.

The word "education" come from the Latin word "educare". It means to bring out and that is exactly what we do at Highbridge. We help our students to bring out their assets and skills in new ways.
